Job Description

Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance activities, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and compliance of facilities, equipment, and personnel. This role involves scheduling and coordinating preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance, as well as managing employees, resources, and records. The Maintenance Manager collaborates with various departments to uphold quality, safety, and efficiency standards.

Supervisory Duties

· Interviews, hires, and trains staff in the Maintenance Department.

· Oversees the daily workflow of the department by assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring workload balance and efficient utilization of resources in the department.

· Supervises and leads a team of various maintenance positions, providing guidance, coaching, and support.

· Provides constructive feedback, including any performance improvement plans and timely performance evaluations to team members. Will bring in Lead Maintenance and Reliability Manager or Human Resources Manager as needed for additional support.

· Works with Lead Maintenance and Reliability Manager and Human Resources on employee-related matters.

Job Duties

  • Schedule and coordinate preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities to meet production demands, working closely with the Director of Operations.
  • Communicate maintenance status and key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering departments to ensure equipment meets quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
  • Plan maintenance activities by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and material specifications.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of replacement parts and supplies, ensuring quick turnaround for repairs.
  • Support the maintenance department by assisting in the troubleshooting of equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions.
  • Maintain PLC documentation upon receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of PLC programs and machine controls drawings in an electronic and/or paper format throughout the facility.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment, including devices, I/O, instruments, and all other components associated with automated processes to meet production and safety goals.
  • Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs, including HMIs, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, etc., and support/assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits.
  • Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
  • Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on set schedules and develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  • Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
  • Determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation.
  • Implement and maintain data collection systems from Plant floor processing equipment.
  • Identify and implement error-proofing requirements throughout the production process.
  • Be part of the multi-disciplinary Plant Team to determine continuous improvement strategies.
  • Identify and plan for process impacts as a result of engineering and launch changes.
  • Participate in 8D or similar root-cause based problem-solving tasks to ensure that abnormalities, when observed, are acted upon to resolve root-causes.
  • Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases, including review and commentary on equipment controls drawings prior to build approval.
  • Support in the installation, commission, and troubleshooting of automated equipment in the facility.
  • Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead Maintenance and Reliability Manager or Director of Operations.

Qualifications

· Extensive knowledge of building systems including electrical, with the ability to interpret blueprints and identify repair needs.

· Extensive knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes, including controls and instrumentation.

· Excellent management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Proficiency in computer applications and basic math skills.

· Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.

· Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

Education and Experience

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing Supervisory role preferred.

· Experience using Allen Bradley’s RS Logix 5, RS Logix 5000, ControLogix and Panelview development software, useful but not required.

· Automation experience preferred.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements /Environmental Conditions of the workplace

· Must be able to lift:

o 5 lbs. to 25 lbs. (always)

o 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. (frequently)

o 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. (occasionally)

o 75 lbs. (rarely)

· Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.

· Frequent twisting, climbing, walking.

· Occasional crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling.

· Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.

· Simultaneous use of hand, wrist and fingers – loading and unloading parts in fixtures.

Workers will be exposed to the following conditions: excessive noise, working around equipment and mechanical moving parts, walking on uneven surfaces, exposure to extreme temperatures, exposure to excessive vibration, and overall basic forge shop environment. Workers are given safety training and use protective equipment such as face shields, earplugs and muffs, safety glasses, safety shoes, and helmets; and machines are equipped with safety guards.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • First Shift Hours Monday – Friday 7:00am to 4:00 pm. and overtime as needed.
