What You'll Do:
Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the HR Business Support Group, providing expert advice and consultation to managers and HR staff on employee relations, strategic workforce planning, and employee communications.
Employee Relations: Resolve complex employee relations issues through thorough and objective investigations, providing counsel to management in accordance with Metra's policies and applicable laws.
Diversity & Inclusion: Work with managers to drive an inclusive and diverse culture, enhancing the employee experience and maintaining a productive work environment.
Data-Driven Decisions: Create and update metrics to measure retention and turnover, interpret and report data, and apply findings to ongoing employee relations strategies.
Onboarding & Offboarding: Manage the New Hire Orientation process and the Exit Interview process to support employee retention strategies.
Staff Management: Oversee staffing decisions, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and promote safe work practices.
Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act, not the Social Security Administration.

Requirements

What You Bring:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or, in lieu of a degree, four years of human resources experience.
Professional Experience: Minimum of six years of HR Business Partner or similar experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of full lifecycle recruiting, personnel practices, federal and state employment laws, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS database systems.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, presentation, and collaborative skills.
Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and adhere to strict standards of ethics.
Physical & Travel Requirements: Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds, willingness to travel within Metra's 6-county region, and availability to work flexible hours.
