Position Summary

CNC Milling Machinist canset up complex parts from start to finish on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) vertical machining centers. They will help support Engineering in developing processes and programs for new product families, while maintaining daily production through tool changes, changeovers, and daily maintenance.

Duties

1. Practice safety standards as identified by the Company Handbook.
2. Maintain clean and organized work area.
3. Strong set up and operation of CNC vertical milling centers including 4th-axis.
4. Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing while working directly with Engineering.
5. Performs daily maintenance as required aligning fixtures or vises, machining workholding, replacing worn or damaged clamps, or rebuilding fixtures.
6. Sets up new and repeat jobs.
7. Completes 100% of the dimensions on a 1st article submission.
8. Conducts visual inspection on a part to ensure fillets, breaks, part finishes, blends, and workmanship meet company standards.
9. Completes job-related paperwork accurately and completely which includes but is not limited to, tool layout sheets, offset sheets, etc.
10. Optimizes cutting tool speeds and feeds using the manufacturer's suggested data.
11. Optimizes part-cycle time by applying the best possible machining practices by working with engineering and suggesting time-saving techniques, or areas for improvement.
12. Monitor and inspect the part throughout the machining process
13. Mentors and guides lesser skilled machine operators and Set-Up operators to achieve the desired skill level.
14. Other duties may be assigned.


Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

8-10 years prior machine shop experience setting up in a precision manufacturing environment
8-10 years of using and reading various measuring instruments.
8-10 years of working with multi-axis machining centers.
Ability to work independently and as a team in a fast paced, changing environment
Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
Read and understand a complex blueprint/geometric tolerance interpretation.
Can explain and identify different nose radius tools to ensure correct inserts are being used.
Can read and follow setup instructions, tool layout sheet, machine setup checklist, and other setup related documents
Ability to analyze customer part drawing to develop process, tooling and fixture requirements to produce parts within specified print tolerances.
Knowledge of tool holders both live and static, cutting tools, and inserts.
Full knowledge of CNC control panel and safety features available on the control, single block, optional stop, distance to go, etc.
