UIC is seeking a Procurement Officer for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Innovation. Under the supervision of the Senior Procurement Officer, the Procurement Officer will be responsible for purchases and new contract development. This position will play a key role in procuring high-quality and cost-efficient services and products for VCI and reporting units.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reviews requisitions for accuracy/completeness and contacts departments for requisition clarification. Create, review, and submit requisitions for purchase orders.
Assist with the Reporting and the Expensing of Purchases through multiple Procurement and Financial Platforms.
Assists VCI and reporting units in the development and review of specifications and bidding requirements for solicitations and contract documents.
Determines the best method for contracting for procured goods and services in accordance with procurement regulations and guidelines. Provides guidance regarding standard purchasing and contracting procedures, as well as state, federal and University rules and regulations.
Acts as liaison with VCI and reporting units to provide assistance and guidance during the evaluation phase of procurements. May serve as a member of an evaluation team.
Interprets results of financial analysis of all proposals submitted by third parties, and departmental recommendations for consistency and accuracy, for incorporation into resultant contracts.
Coordinates and participates in drafting and updating templates and other related procurement contracting activities to properly document the project, and clarifies procurement contracting processes and procedures.
Contacts vendors to verify pricing, delivery/lead terms, and to request required forms related to requisitions and potential orders.
Serves as VCI contact for vendors regarding procurement and contracting policies and procedures and maintains information regarding products, prices, service proposals and contracts, and facilitates vendor networking.
Selects and/or recommends suppliers or contacts UIC OBFS department to determine acceptable suppliers.
Works with the campus community to identify procurement opportunities and collaborates with other procurement professionals to develop sourcing strategies and initiate bids/requests for proposals that are in the best interest of the University.
