UIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our Technology Solutions team. This role will be managing and maintaining various aspects of the organization's IT infrastructure. The Systems Administrator will manage servers and workstations, manage and maintain the organization's' Shibboleth identity and access management systems. Additionally, the position will manage SSL/TLS Certificates, perform systems patching and upgrades, and resolve technical incidents. The role requires a strong technical background and familiarity with Shibboleth, experience managing Google Workspace, Linux administration, Wi-Fi authentication, email management, and systems patching.

Duties & Responsibilities

Manage servers and workstations, including installing updates and security patches.
Install new and rebuild existing physical servers. Work with other teams in TS to roll out virtual servers.
Manage and maintain the organization's SSO identity and access management system (Shibboleth, Azure SSO).
Administer and support the Google Workspace environment, including email, calendar, and document management.
Manages SSL/TLS Certificates, and monitor expiry notifications to ensure no issues result from expiration.
Assist in certificate coordination to ensure successful implementation.
Document IT processes, procedures, and configurations.
Perform regular system patching and upgrades to ensure the stability and security of the organization's IT infrastructure.
Respond to and resolve technical incidents and requests in a timely manner.
Perform other system administration related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Required:

Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or closely related field of study
Minimum 5 years of professional IT experience within System Administration & Operations which includes demonstrated experience in configuration, installation, maintenance, backup / recovery and upgrading multi-user computer systems hardware and software as well as establishing/managing user accounts.
Demonstrated experience with Single Sign On technologies and knowledge of SAML.
Demonstrated knowledge of Shibboleth identity and access management systems.
Preferred Qualifications

Strong experience with Google Workspace administration.
Experience with Shibboleth and Google Workspace.
Knowledge of Storage Area Networks, Backups, and Backup systems.
