Purpose

Responsible for the timely and accurate recording3 of financial information within the accounting system. Manage compliance with SEC,GAAP,FERC and various state regulatory requirements. An understanding of utility financial and operational activities and the ability to communicate effectively will be vital to succeed in this position. Reconcile accounts, and comply with financial policies, financial closing process and analyze financial results.Researches accounting questions as needed. Continually enhance processes and procedures. This role will require the prevailing candidate to be flexible and havethe ability to communicate effectively.

Accountabilities

Actively participate in the monthly financial closing process by managing data, communicating with accounting and other staff, preparing journal entries and reviewing financial data.
Prepare accurate and timely account reconciliations ensuring compliance with the Company's SOX controls.
The position requires you possess knowledge to investigate problems, evaluate and suggest or develop procedural changes.
Adaptability will be necessary for responding to changes in schedules, reporting requirements and shift in priorities accordingly. Adjusting to new procedures, processes and technology in a positive manner will be beneficial.
Support regulatory filings, responses to regulatory data requests, and preparation of ad hoc analysis and reporting for regulatory compliance purposes.
Maintains financial databases and reporting systems. Prepares internal financial statements and external annual reports for various entities.
Perform other special finance/accounting related projects as requested.

Education and Experience

BS Degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) is required.
Analytical skills and demonstrated knowledge of accounting theory and principles is required.
Working experience with Microsoft and accounting software is necessary.
Work experience in a highly regulated industry preferred.
Ability to work under demanding time constraints and firm deadlines.
