Target hiring range for this position will be between be $70,000-$88,344 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Statistical Analyst, Developmental Mechanisms Program, Northwestern University
The Developmental Mechanisms Program in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University is seeking highly qualified applicants for a Statistical Analyst to join its strong and diverse research and data teams. This position supports an investigative team across multiple funded studies of longitudinal child development directed by Dr. Laurie Wakschlag and Dr. Elizabeth Norton.This program of research aims to (1) Identify patterns and brain, behavioral and contextual mechanisms of early emerging mental health and language development, as well as their prenatal predictors;and (2) Generate and apply innovative equitable prevention approaches to advance health and development in early life for children and families with diverse lived experience. Multiple state-of-the-art, developmentally sensitive methods are used for tracing patterns over time. This position is ideal for candidates who wish to go on to graduate studies in applied social and behavioral sciences and who are passionate about applying quantitative methodology to advance child and family well-being. This is a one-year renewable position.
The Statistical Analyst will provide expertise in advanced data curation and statistical modeling across multiple studies. The Statistical Analyst will be supervised by the Assistant Director of Data Processes to support the daily operations, including manuscript preparation of these research projects, with active engagement with investigators and staff across the multiple studies of the program. The Statistical Analyst will have opportunities to be involved in grant submissions, manuscripts, and other scientific products.
Specific responsibilities include:
Running descriptive statistics and applying advanced statistical methods for manuscripts and data requests, such as logistic regressions, Lasso regression, factor analysis, mixed-effects modeling, and latent class analysis
Performing advanced data quality checks and curation across studies
Conducting data harmonization and producing detailed reports and data visualization
Creating, monitoring and maintaining complex data pipelines
We are seeking candidates with a Master's degree in Public Health, Statistics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or other applied social and behavioral sciences or equivalent. Proficiency with a broad array of statistical programs and methods is required, including R/RStudio and REDCap (familiarity with additional packages is a plus). Experience and/or training in statistical approaches for analyzing multi-level longitudinal data is also required. Experience working as a data analyst in applied social and behavioral sciences is highly valued as is training, interest and/or experience in the developmental arena. Additionally, candidates should possess strong attention to detail, a proactive and self-starting attitude, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
