Job Description

The Director of Applications and IT Strategy will oversee systems development lifecycle, providing strategic and operational leadership for technical and business resources.

 

This role will serve as the principal point of contact for all IT-related projects, leading cross-functional teams from concept to delivery while ensuring alignment with the organization's business objectives with the defined area of responsibility.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Strategic Planning
Lead and Mentor Departmental Teams: Collaborate with key stakeholders, including steering committees and other IT executives, to define and implement the department's strategic goals.
Manage Key Projects: Take ownership of major projects, ensuring they align with corporate strategy, have well-defined budgets, timelines, and deliver expected business benefits.
Business Acumen: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization's various business processes and the systems that support them.

 

Operational Excellence
Continuous Improvement: Understand and enhance project and support methodologies, focusing on quality and cost control.
Systems and Design: Utilize a broad understanding of systems design to provide architectural and technical guidance.
Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality of team output, diagnosing and addressing root causes of any quality issues and ensuring application reliability and availability to meet business objectives.

 

People Management and Team Development
Personnel Strategy: Lead personnel-related activities such as recruiting, retention, and performance management.
Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources, ensuring timely project completion and minimizing business disruption.
Policy and Procedure: Review, question, and enhance departmental policies, standards, and methodologies.
Financial Oversight: Maintain cost control within your area of responsibility.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.

 

Certification/Licensure:

None required.

 

Work Experience:

At least 10 years of IT and business experience with at least 4 years of leadership experience.

 

Knowledge, skills, abilities:

Demonstrable experience in managing large-scale IT projects from conception to completion.

Proven experience in IT strategy development and execution.

Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.

Extensive knowledge of current programming languages, operating systems, and other relevant technologies.
