Job Description

The Area Manager is responsible for leading a team tasked with obtaining, maintaining, and managing raw materials levels at multiple plants to ensure production schedules and service metrics are satisfied. The Area Manager will primarily be accountable for the service levels at multiple plants and protect the integrity of schedules within the operational organization. Leading a team to maintain positive customer relationships internal and external and to support Sourcing's ability to negotiate competitive pricing are the core of responsibilities and tasks assigned.
Additional Information:
Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day
20% Travel
Determine and implement area supply chain strategies to achieve service goals.
Create and manage purchase orders for assigned area of responsibility and/or influence the work group assigned to do this task.
Ensure data accuracy by leading a team to maintain system information for purchase orders, vendors, and raw materials.
Work with the Raw Material Planning and Sourcing groups to improve raw material demand information and forecasts.
Influence the team to respond to changes in demand and forecasts for raw material consumption.
Drive continuous improvement by supporting current and future business needs with the voice of the customer at the forefront.
Work with the plant scheduling function to ensure incoming/current raw material levels will not cause unnecessary finished good supply disruptions or potential overstocks.
Review and determine obsolete raw material disposition at assigned sites.
Work with the team to issue timely non-conformances when material is determined to be in violation of Sherwin-Williams standards.
Manage the accuracy of raw material inventory levels as indicated in operational systems.
Maintain a positive relationship with vendors and customers to ensure supply chain targets are achieved.
Manage raw material levels to mitigate slow moving, non-moving raw material creation at assigned sites.
Make decisions with incremental freight and raw material costs in mind to help the region achieve financial goals
Aid in the execution of Sourcing initiatives to support the negotiation of competitive pricing
Play an active role in yearly physical inventory to ensure reported inventory amounts are accurate
Assist in the development and execution of weekly and monthly production plans for multiple plants.
Manage the training and on-boarding of new direct reports.
Take a hands-on approach to the development and growth of employees within the supply chain area.
Complete yearly reviews of employees.
Be active in employee engagement initiatives at multiple plants.
Support safety initiatives of the sites.
Adhere to all safety policies while working on-site.
Participate in required safety training and promote a safety culture with all employees.
Participate in the Management of Change process for all raw materials at the sites assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or have at least four (4) years of work experience in supply chain
Must have three (3) years of work experience in a Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations role.
Must have one (1) year of experience in leadership role(s), supervising others, or leading teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Have at least a bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or Business
Have at least two (2) years of work experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility or in an operations environment
Have experience working in a multi-shift operation
Have at least a APICS or other professional inventory management certification
Have MES and QAD proficiency
Have SAP Business Objects report writing proficiency
Have a least a Six Sigma Green Belt certification
