The EHS Specialist is responsible for the Ohio Medical, Gurnee facility working with the facility. This role supports the site to ensure Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives are integrated into daily tasks and operations and is accountable for maintaining effective processes to drive a best-in-class EHS culture. This position will support the facility to develop and maintain an EHS culture focused on risk management, compliance and engagement.
What you will do:

Deploy EHS strategic plan to meet and exceed compliance requirements, implement best practices, continuously improve EHS systems, and ensure traceability for repeat tasks.

Participate in the fulfilment of compliance requirements and ESAB business standards; apprise the business of EHS issues and performance as needed.

Nurture and empower a proactive EHS culture.

Develop, implement and revise training programs to maintain employee engagement.

Provide hands-on technical assistance and EHS support to personnel for day-to-day activities, conduct EHS orientation training for new employees and coordinate on the job EHS training for all respective functions.

Conduct analysis for job safety assessments, hazards identification, PPE assessments, PFSMEA's, ergonomics and other EHS assessments.

Identify issues and recommend feasible solutions regarding operations, services and/or personnel. * Apprise management of EHS issues, opportunity for improvement, and recommend actions.

Perform and oversee investigations and corrective actions for upset conditions, missed targets, accidents, or other EHS non-conformances.

Participate in supporting the company with regulatory agencies, customers and auditors as required.

Follow up on audit findings, corrective actions and preventative actions, evaluating effectiveness and efficiency.

Partner with Regional EHS team on assigned tasks and initiatives.

Collaborate with HR to manage facility workers' compensation claims; assist with insurance issues and management as necessary.

Serve as a resource and contributor to the site's Risk Management Program - support property and business interruption insurance surveys and visits.

Travel - up to 10%
What we are looking for:

Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS, preferably in an engineering, industrial, or manufacturing environment

Self-motivated, proactive and ability to communicate at multiple levels of the organization

Understanding of manufacturing industry

Must have excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills

Ability to adapt to target-rich work environment and want to seek continuous improvement

Excellent in problem solving, organization, interpersonal and motivational skills

Experienced in development of classroom, hands on and interactive training programs

Trainer certifications/qualifications a desirable attribute.

Strong experience with MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint,

Strong project management and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Membership within EHS Professional organizations such as the ASSP, AIHA or NSC

CIH, CSP and/or CHMM certifications

High energy and results focused

Conversational Spanish
Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or certification program in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry or a related line of study Technical Requirements
