Key Responsibilities:

The Manager of Distribution Technology is responsible for developing and implementing United Cargo’s distribution channel strategy. Position will determine how to best leverage technology for customer contact channels, including phone/IVR, web, email and mobile applications. Responsibilities include implementing initiatives to promote customer self-service and CSAT, thereby improving efficiency and enhancing cost of sale. Manager Distribution Technology directs all related partner (business, IT, external vendor, etc) activities to introduce new or modified technology.

The leader must work effectively to stay current on the latest e-commerce trends, technologies, and strategies and translate that knowledge into effective web-based tools to drive business process efficiencies and CSAT.

+ Channel technology strategy/implementation

+ Leads the planning and strategy development for distribution channels to ensure optimal performance and determine enhancements that provide highly competitive, groundbreaking capabilities for the cargo organization and its customers (customer contact channels include phone/IVR, web, email and mobile applications.)

+ Develops and implements supporting initiatives, while demonstrating UC360 capabilities

+ Manages cross-functional project team with internal/external collaborators to achieve desired results

+ Develops business requirements and partners with IT in the development of technical requirements for new enhancements

+ Establishes and measure key performance indicators and cost/benefit of initiatives (examples: introduction of IVR, introduction of mobile applications and channel shift from phone to web.)

+ Website Development and Management

+ Develops and implements overall UA Cargo web strategy

+ Aligns strategy with United Cargo website design, content and functionality

+ Advises UA Cargo involvement with CPS and other web-related vendors

+ Play primary role in coordinating enhancement requirements with United IT, Creative Services and cargo system vendor

+ Enhance customer web experience thereby increasing adoption /penetration rates

+ Develop and maintain relationship with passenger e-commerce leadership to leverage united.com web developments

+ Manage CPS website performance and enhancement needs consistent with strategy thereby enhancing revenue generated by this alternate booking channel

+ Data Management and Reporting

+ Manages cargo distribution channel performance data, advises mgmt. of industry/UA trends and identifies future opportunities

+ Coordinate with cargo collaborators to determine data needs and develop reporting capabilities to support these needs

This is a Chicago-based, hybrid position that will require on average, three days per week in office.

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

+ Bachelor degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience

+ 5+ years of proven web development, distribution technology and/or ecommerce experience

+ Previous experience leading a broad-base, cross-functional team

+ Proficiency with travel industry e-commerce, operating platforms and emerging technology

+ Proven experience in distribution technology and web strategy development/implementation

+ Ability to work cross divisionally and demonstrate influencing skills

+ Internal & external customer focus

+ Ability to develop and deliver formal presentations

+ Proven project mgmt. experience

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

+ Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

+ Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

+ MBA degree

+ Execution of previous technology related project(s)

+ Working knowledge of Cargo

+ Working knowledge of UC360 system
