The Applications and Development team is the key scientific hub of our organization with comprehensive accountability for our broad, market leading portfolios. The Synthetic Biology Applications Development Manager serves as a key liaison to the scientific community, demonstrating how our synthetic biology solutions work and developing relationships with key opinion leaders and stakeholders, through collaborations and publications to gain IDT broader market access and awareness. This role works closely with the Innovation and Commercial Product Managers, R&D, Commercial teams, and alongside the scientific community to demonstrate how solutions within our portfolio can bring value to our customers. Additionally, this role will identify new synthetic biology innovations that support IDT’s strategic initiatives.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Interact with internal departments and targeted IDT customers to advance synthetic biology collaborative research projects that ultimately drive growth in revenue and the reputation of IDT’s synthetic biology products

+ Plan the experimental details and write the research collaboration agreements required for execution of these collaborative projects. Lead and manage early testing of new synthetic biology products and solutions with targeted customers

+ Represent IDT at scientific conferences and trade shows, assist in preparing and presenting scientific posters

+ Introduce new synthetic biology techniques and opportunities to internal development groups which have not previously been used at IDT

+ Work with product management and marketing teams to create scientific and technical content for customers on GWE products and applications.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ PhD in a Life Science field (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, etc.) OR bachelors or master’s degree in Life Science field (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, etc.) with 2+ years of direct industry experience

+ 2+ years of demonstrated ability to design and plan experiments with minimal supervision

+ 2+ years of demonstrated knowledge of the market and competitive landscape for synthetic biology solutions

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ Located near our Coralville, IA office with the ability to attend on-site meetings as needed

+ Strong knowledge of IDT’s synthetic biology solutions

+ Knowledge of CRISPR editing systems

+ Knowledge of DBS tools

The salary range for this role is $100,000 – $115,000 . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
