Summary This position serves as a Whole Health (WH) Clinical Director at Jesse Brown VA. The WH Clinical Director is responsible for developing, managing, maintaining, planning, and administering health and well-being opportunities for the Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) employees and Veteran patients alike. Responsibilities Employee Whole Health Program Development Chairs the Whole Health Committee as the facility Whole Health Clinical Director and leads a diverse planning team of interdisciplinary health professionals and representatives from various services within the medical center including labor partners. Conducts needs assessment(s) of employees and Veteran patients to determine program needs and interests. Develops core program components based on assessment results. Collaborates with other services on the assessment of the Whole Health needs of employees and Veteran patients. Consults with specific services such as Safety, Human Resources, Veterans Canteen Service and Occupational Health to identify employees at highest risk for injury or illness identifying strategies to help lessen the risk within these groups. Develops and delivers classes, seminars, workshops, etc. on various Whole Health topics including but not limited to nutrition, physical activity, and mental health topics or works to identify and collaborates with relevant subject matter experts. Responsible for scheduling, approving instructors, selecting classes and activities, and organizing events. Integrates concepts, practices and tools that support the Whole Health system of care. Utilizes materials and resources available on the Whole Health library. Develops training materials for staff educational needs. Ensures newly hired employees are trained and oriented to the Employee Whole Health program and key activities as part of new employee orientation (NEO). Assessment and Coaching Implements use of available individual health assessments to determine employee wellness strengths and opportunities (i.e., Personal Health Inventory (PHI), Healthy Living Assessment (HLA)), and tracks employee improvement and goal attainment as appropriate. Advancing the scope of the team’s existing services; and augmenting partnerships throughout the hospital and with academic affiliates to increase referral streams. Consults with service chiefs and managers to maintain high program visibility and advise them of their staff’s involvement. Promotes and encourages maximum participation and assist in resolving program challenges. Conducts program evaluations and tracks outcomes to assess and improve program effectiveness and make recommendations to facility leadership to improve mission readiness and program delivery. Creates a personalized health plan (PHP) with employees who desire one by exploring the employee’s mission, aspiration, and purpose (MAP); creates goals and action plans with the employee based on his/her MAP. Maintains strict confidentiality of individual employee information according to published guidelines and procedures (i.e., maintains data from web-based questionnaires on secure servers behind the VA firewall, keeps paper records stored in locked filing cabinets, etc.). Program Administration and Reporting Formulates, organizes, sets priorities, and implements a well-balanced plan that ensures the success of the employee and Veteran patient Whole Health programs. Coordinates a team to ensure effective delivery of the program based on sound, evidence- based nutrition, exercise, and mental health principles. Facilitates employee and Veteran patient environmental assessments to encourage and support Whole Health and well-being at the facility and CBOCs. Coordinates with services to ensure availability of opportunities to meet program needs. Assembles a diverse planning team of interdisciplinary health professionals. Collects and analyzes data regarding employee needs and expectations for the programs. Coordinates resources and maintain financial records for the programs. Maintains strict confidentiality of employee and Veteran patient information. Collaborates with the Whole Health Committee and Public Affairs to develop a communications and marketing plan. Consults with service chiefs and managers to maintain high program visibility and advises them on staff involvement. Writes proposals for annual funding opportunities as made available by the National WH program office. Drafts, publishes, and maintains local policies and procedures related to Whole Health, as needed, to ensure compliance with VHA-level directives and regulations, VISN guidelines, medical center policy, Union Master Agreements, professional guidelines, and all accrediting and regulatory agencies. Manages program budget and is the fund control point official for the WH programs. Responsible for the purchase of a variety of products, materials, and goods used in the promotion and administration of Whole Health activities. Qualifications Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: The following are the basic requirements and qualifications for appointment as a Psychologist. United States Citizenship – Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency Requirement – Per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, Paragraph 3j: No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English. Education Requirement – You must have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed. The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. OR, have a doctoral degree in any area of psychology and, in addition, successfully completed a re-specialization program meeting both of the following conditions: a) the re-specialization program must be completed in an APA or a CPA accredited doctoral program; and b) the specialty in which you were retrained is consistent with the assignment you are am applying for; OR, have a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution, with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature.
