Job Description
Description We are offering an interesting opportunity in the manufacturing industry based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. This role is for a Business Unit Controller who will oversee accounting operations, maintain financial records and ensure compliance with accounting principles and policies. The position involves managing day-to-day accounting functions, a team of accountants, and collaborating with the CFO and other stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate financial information.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, conduct financial and variance analysis to identify trends and opportunities for better financial performance
- Manage fixed asset register, track depreciation and capital expenditure
- Oversee ledger activities, ensure accurate recording of transactions
- Oversee payable and receivable functions, processing and coding invoices, managing payment terms, and monitoring collections
- Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure financial record integrity and compliance with company policies and GAAP
- Coordinate and manage audits, address audit findings and recommendations
- Oversee cost control efforts, identify cost-saving opportunities
- Supervise and develop accountants to ensure high productivity and performance
- Identify and implement efficient and effective accounting solutions
- Work with the CFO and other team members to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, accounting standards, and company policies
- Assist in the annual planning process to support strategic and operational decision-making
- Include complete preparation and analysis for financial statements, ad hoc reporting, month-end close reconciliations, and timely, accurate remittance of sales taxes. Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Controller role within the manufacturing industry
- Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and ERP Solutions
- Strong knowledge of ADP – Financial Services
- Familiarity with DCAA and ERP – Enterprise Resource Planning
- Ability to handle accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Proven experience in Auditing, Budget Processes, and Financial Reporting
- Experience with Annual Physical Inventory and Equipment Inventory
- Skilled in Cost Analysis and Cost Control
- Ability to Perform Trend Analysis
- Proficiency in managing General Ledger and Journal Entries
- Experience with Mechanics Liens
- Proven skills in Budgeting – Forecasting is essential.
