Job Description

TITLE: Quality Assurance Analyst I

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Senior Manager, IT Governance

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Conduct QA software testing including functional, regression and system testing of projects and enhancements, bugs, and hot fixes. Create and execute test scenarios according to the requirements and technical specifications, ensuring testing activities are aligned with sprint goals, company standards are followed, and solutions work as expected.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop, maintain and execute test cases, ensuring the quality and stability of the system throughout the sprints.

2. Identify and document software defects and manage their lifecycle using a defect management tool to ensure quality assurance. Ensure defects in the software products have been corrected and document test results.

3. Conduct functional testing of assigned bugs, enhancements and hot fixes and document results of tests.

4. Identify and document Regression Testing Scenarios and Test Cases to test the impact of the software modifications.

5. Analyze Requirement and Technical Specification documents. Identify gaps in these documents.

6. Determine and document root cause of defects to prevent recurrence of the issues and quality problems and make recommendations to improve Agile Scrum practice.

7. Develop User Acceptance Test cases and coordinate User Acceptance Testing and obtain final sign-off from business owners.

8. Effectively collaborate with Product Owner, Development Team and Business Users, both inside and outside of the Scrum Team, to meet aggressive deliverable deadlines for various projects.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education/certifications and work experience required.

EXPERIENCE:

At least two years’ application testing experience required, including creating and executing test scripts, test cases, test plans and running regression tests in a software development environment. Experience with test management tools for documenting testing results, AMS or ERP platforms, development of automation scripts, Web services testing for SOAP/REST using SoapUI/Postman and writing SQL queries for backend functionality is preferred. Experience with Scrum Role is highly preferred. Association or non-profit experience is a plus.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Excellent analytical, interpersonal, collaboration, written and verbal communication skills essential, with the ability to write clear test plans and test cases, and to proactively and effectively communicate bugs to software developers and business owners. Must have basic knowledge of HTML, SQL, .net, ASP.NET; understanding of systems development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodology; and familiarity with quality assurance principles, inspection techniques and testing procedures. Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with issue tracking software programs essential. Must be able to manage a heavy workload within tight deadlines, with some evening and weekend work required.

Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site is required at our Chicago suburb headquarters in Itasca, IL.
