Job Summary:

Provides leadership to the End-to-End telematics verification & validation team of Onboard systems division. The role includes collaborating with different software teams in Onboard systems of Integrated Component systems and Back office of Caterpillar Digital divisions.

What You Will Do:

- Plan, prioritize End-to-End software testing to deliver high quality software for the customers.

- Investigating and troubleshooting the software issues found by the testers.

- Mentoring and Coaching the test engineers the different aspects of End-to-End test process.

- Maintain and update different lab equipment like Simple bench setup, Software-in-loop, Hardware-in-loop etc. .

Education Requirement:

- Bachelor’s degree in an electrical, electronics or computer field

- Oversees testing activities for multiple software releases .

- Assist in the creation of validation plans and use the acceptance criteria.

- Coaches test engineers with software test planning and execution.

- Promotes understanding of multiple product and service groups and their interdependencies.

- Planning and prioritization of test activities for multiple software releases.

- Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process.

- Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.

- Advises team members in analyzing and synthesizing between manual and automated testing activities.

- Clarify product requirements and ensure alignment with appropriate stakeholders.

- Participates in software requirements and systems team meetings for better customer collaboration.

- Conducts periodic reviews of test methods and test process.

- Maintains productive, long-term relationships with On board systems and Back office teams.

- Creates opportunities to educate the testing team on client priorities.

- Empowers others to establish collaborative, healthy relationships.

Technical Excellence:

- Evaluate existing validations controls, standard test procedures for effective risk mitigation.

- Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.

- Mentors team members to enhance their technical competence to decide between manual and automated testing.

- Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing the test results to identify bugs before reaching customer hands. .

- Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

- Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.

Process Improvement:

- Streamlines the documentation of test plans and results for traceability.

- Sets priorities for addressing process problems that limit performance.

- Develops methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes.

- Monitors external sources for applicable new methods and controls.

- Analyzes findings from improvement cycles to ensure success of interventions.

- Coaches others to develop the skills to improve processes.

Systems Thinking:

- Applies knowledge of personalities and team dynamics to solve problems and facilitate change.

- Facilitates a culture of continuous improvement and widespread systems thinking.

- Clarifies cause-effect relationships among factors that impact organization performance.

- Mentors others to investigate entire range of factors that help and hinder key interventions.

- Scrutinizes the critical organizational factors that drive performance, where problems could have a broader impact.

- Develops scenarios for various system interventions that can be tested, refined, and implemented over time.

Project Management:

- Utilizes preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating project cost and time.

- Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors different software releases.

- Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with software system team, developers and back office.

- Maintains open communication among On board systems and Back office teams.

- Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

Electronics Engineering – HTH:

- Trains test engineers on test plan, execution and documentation of test results.

- Anticipates the challenges and opportunities in software release schedules.

- Interprets alternative interfaces between hardware and software and associated requirements and considerations.

- Advises on right test approach based on past experience and current needs

- Track product development issues to completion.

- Keeping up with industry trends and new technology breakthroughs is essential and requires continuous learning through self/internet study as well as interaction with other engineers through conferences and papers.

Additional Information

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position will require less than 10% travel.
