Job Description

Knowledgeable in Steam cycle and Boiler/Power Generation equipment and able to train others.

Provides schedules and work direction for other employees.

Collaborates with Facility Engineering on operation/equipment issues

Collaborates Facility Manager on employee performance and pay issues.

Responsible for Hiring additional operation/maintenance staff.

Details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:

+ Tests, treats or oversees the treating of boiler water.

+ Works from and is able to read prints, manufacturer’s instructions, and sketches.

+ Installs, maintains, cleans and repairs all boiler parts and stacks.

+ Installs, maintains, and repairs stokers, conveyors, engines, pumps, strainers, condensers, etc., by repairing or replacing worn or broken parts.

+ Installs, maintains and repairs all piping (including steam piping) within powerhouse proper.

+ Controls output of electric power, synchronizes outside powerlines and distribution power by means of switchboard equipment during incoming utility disruption or curtailment event.

+ Monitors plant compressed air load and operates Centralized and local HMI (s) to maintain proper header pressure.

+ Keeps log and makes reports of power plant operations covering such items as hours of operation, operating temperatures, power generated and anticipates load requirements.

+ Maintains a safe work environment.

+ Instructs and assists other team members.

May also perform duties such as the following in addition to the duties listed above:

+ Make minor electrical repairs (120V single phase and below)

+ Paint complete or touch up engine room equipment, fixtures and floors during periods of low demand.

+ Keeps engine room and equipment clean and orderly.

Minimum Requirements

+ High School diploma or equivalent

+ A current Journeyman Electrician license, a current Master Electrician license. A Journeyman license requiring less than 8,000 hours or of the Residential type shall not be considered.

+ Six years of experience performing maintenance on industrial manufacturing production equipment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Minimum four years (8,000 Hours) documented experience in all phases of electrical work, with at least 2 of those years being in power distribution wiring, directly related power plant/electrical switchgear and control panel maintenance and repair.??

Expected Skills and Competencies:

+ Proficient in Steam cycle and Boiler/Power Generation equipment and able to train others.

+ Ability to read design drawings and wiring diagrams is required.??

+ Mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once is required.??

+ Thorough knowledge of the methods, hazards, and safety precautions related to diesel engines and diesel engine driven electric generators is required.

+ Ability to maintain a professional attitude and to work efficiently in a stressful environment is required.

+ Working comprehension of electrical distribution, control panels and medium voltage switchgear.

+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

+ Experience working with AC and DC voltages from 12 up to 4160 is preferred.??

+ Mechanical, construction, or other industrial experience is preferred.

Physical and/or Other Requirements :

+ Requires the ability to regularly lift to 50 lbs.

+ Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.

+ Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.

+ Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.

+ Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.

+ Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.

+ Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

+ Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.

+ Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

+ Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

+ Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
