Skills:
Must be able to follow the directions of the leadership team and preceptors
Must be able to work with computers and handheld devices
Mustbe able to wear proper PPE due to the potential exposure to body fluids and other potentially infectious materials, chemicals and other hazardous conditions. Position may require tasks that involve inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes from them. Appropriate protective measures as outlined in hospital's Infection Control Policies and Procedures are available and required for employees who perform such tasks. Demonstrates complete understanding of infection control practices.
Must be able to follow all safety protocols within the department to ensure the safety of all employees.
Must be able to retain information and demonstrate the ability to perform simple task.
Must be able to rotate through assigned areas of the Sterile Processing Department to provide assistance while being supervised by a preceptor.
Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, push, sit, walk, stand, kneel, bend, and climb repeatedly for extended periods of time, with some sitting. Occasional exertion of moderately heavy nature to include stretching, bending, twisting and lifting trays up to 30 pounds.
Must have the ability to push and pull carts with trays and supplies when necessary up to 300 pounds.
Must have the ability to develop the understanding of sterile instruments and the processes of the department to ensure accurate delivery of sterile instruments.

What you will do:
Assist with the delivery of instrumentation to and from ancillary departments utilizing the departments tracking system. Ex Labor and delivery
Assist with receiving soiled instruments from the Operating Room in Decontamination.
Assist with picking supplies for operating room procedures.
Assist with the cleaning of the department work stations and areas within the department as needed.
Assist with restocking and maintaining supplies at work stations
Assist with the breaking down of supplies received daily.
Assist with the drying and stocking of the genesis containers and clean red bio-hazard bins.
Assist with areas in decontamination to ensure workflow is maintain with the supervision of preceptor.
Assist with additional task but not limited to learning the processes performed by sterile processing technicians to further assist as needed.
