The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Client Accounting Coordinator to join our Firm. This position will be based in our Chicago office (hybrid). The Senior Client Accounting Coordinator provides client account analysis and billing support to partners and coordinates client accounting activity for assigned partners and practice areas utilizing appropriate departmental resources.

Handles multiple complex billing and client analysis projects.

Reviews outstanding balance reports and is proactive about trouble spots.

Prepares bills and internal forms including appropriate back-up required to process requests.

Understands and responds to inquiries and requests made by attorneys, legal assistants and staff.

Provides relevant information, guidance and support to others in the Firm in a manner that increases the level of understanding of Client Accounting processes to formulate strong work team relationships, both internally and externally.

Works with supervisor(s) to coordinate departmental workflow, provide solutions to problems and develop creative approaches to accomplish department goals.

Communicates situations as they arise that may require manager follow-up such as bills not returned from attorneys, difficulty fulfilling attorney requests, or workload situations that may jeopardize meeting department service guidelines and/or partner guidelines; offers solutions for various situations, when possible.

Identifies and communicates to supervisor, training and coaching needs of department staff

Trains, mentors and assists Client Accounting Assistants and Coordinators as needed.

Able to assume a leadership role when supervisor/manager is absent.

Creates and maintains complete and up-to-date files for each partner and/or client.

Actively seeks to enhance knowledge of all Client Accounting procedures and processes.

Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.

Regular and reliable physical presence.

Manages Firm resources responsibly.

Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software (e.g., Aderant, StarCollect) and operating systems

Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Ability to organize and prioritize work

Excellent analytical, quantitative, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills

Demonstrates close attention to detail

Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities

Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality

Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
