Job Overview:

International Network Planning is responsible for determining the routes, aircraft types, and timings of one of the largest and fastest-growing international networks in the world. Focusing on the Atlantic and Hawaii networks, this team oversees nearly 90 routes from the US to 38 destinations in Europe, Africa, Israel and India. Additionally, the team is responsible for the 18 routes from the Continental US to four destinations in Hawaii.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Proactively identify and evaluate initiatives to improve the profitability and competitiveness of United’s Atlantic / Hawaii network

+ Lead development of short, medium and long-range frequency and capacity plans and fleeting recommendations; balancing needs with operational and cross-geography tradeoffs

+ Collaborate with A++ JV partners to holistically understand capacity plans & chances to create “win-win” adjustments (e.g. seasonal capacity changes, retimes, connectivity); understand implications of capacity and revenue sharing agreement

+ Lead cross-functional efforts with other commercial and operating groups to ensure viability of network plans; develop communication plans for schedule changes and new market launches

+ Guide team and individual development and alignment (i.e. team goals, mentoring, career development, etc.)

+ Develop understanding of tools and data to support business processes (e.g. Profit Manager, ICONE, MIDT, and FPS) and work in partnership with Decision Sciences to streamline the end user experience and improve the ability to inform recommendations

Please note: This is a Chicago-based, hybrid role with a 50% in office requirement

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

+ Bachelor’s degree

+ Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Transportation/Logistics, Mathematics, or related area of study preferred

+ 7 + Years of related experience

+ At least 3 years professional experience required, including at least one year managing 2+ direct reports

+ Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to handle simultaneous projects and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment

+ Experience with data analysis and financial modeling

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Strong presentation skills with an ability to clearly and succinctly share complex analysis with senior leadership

+ Proven critical thinking skills, taking sophisticated problems and building logical solution frameworks

+ Intellectual curiosity, desire to learn, ability to take initiative

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

+ Master’s degree

+ Prior experience in Network Planning, Scheduling, Revenue Management, Consulting, Economics and / or Data Analysis preferred
