Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP, Solution Architect is responsible for the complete technical stewardship of applications and software components of many projects or programs. Additionally, this experienced architect possesses the skills to take prompt decisions, lead a team of developers, manage deadlines and other technical problems. The Solution Architect must have a balanced mix of technical and business skills and often works with enterprise architects for strategic direction.

The VP, Solution Architect needs significant people and process skills, with ability to communicate and formally present complex ideas and issues in simple terms to project teams, external clients, and often senior management. They also need to deeply understand the business processes in order to create a cohesive vision of the products and services.

The VP, Solution Architect must be able to conform to an architectural framework and explain the technical decisions with respect to that framework.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Convert a business requirement into a technical solution blueprint. The VP, Solution Architect balances all aspects of solution, from design to operations. while evaluating software and hardware technologies and associated best practices based on an evaluation of the options in accordance with the architectural framework.

+ Get involved in a project early, when analysts start developing requirements, and then remain involved till the end.

+ Have complete technical stewardship of an initiative / application. Have key responsibility for the vision that underlies the solution and the execution of that vision into the solution.

+ Select the most appropriate technology for a problem in accordance with the architectural framework, and balance architectural concerns of the project with the business considerations of the enterprise.

+ Mentor a team of solution architects in a functional specialty area

+ Be the principal Solution Architect in multiple initiatives, responsible for framing:

+ How technology can be used to solve a given business problem?

+ Which framework, platform, or tech-stack that can be used to create a solution? Which patterns, methods and tools will be most effective and productive?

+ How the application will look and feel, what the components will be, and how they interact with each other?

+ How will things scale for the future and how they will be maintained?

+ Figuring out the advantages and risks in third-party frameworks/platforms?

+ Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 7 years of experience in multiple IT areas OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED 9 years of application development experience

+ Mastery of at least one (ideally two or more) technical disciplines: infrastructure (compute, cloud, networking, database), software design and engineering (Java, Spring, Javascript), messaging technologies (IBM MQ, Kafka), security, UI/UX design.

+ Mastery of business communication to convey the business benefits, business requirements, level-of-effort, project timelines, and challenges.

+ The ability to work and produce work from others in an AGILE methodology (SCRUM and Kanban).

Desired Characteristics:

+ Strong working knowledge of fintech Industry as it relates to consumer financing

+ Deep experience in service-oriented architecture

+ Deep Agile expertise

+ Critical thinking, problem solving and creativity

+ Experience building and deploying application on Cloud platforms

+ Working knowledge of API gateways

+ Expertise in mobile solutions including native and mobile web

+ Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks like Zachman or TOGAF

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 – 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

+ You must be 18 years or older

+ You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

+ You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

+ You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

+ New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
