Job Description

Description We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team based in Franklin Park, Illinois. This role involves overseeing general accounting functions, preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. You will be instrumental in managing the financial operations of our company within the distribution industry.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.

- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to management.

- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger.

- Reconcile account balances and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.

- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.

- Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.

- Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations for improvements.

- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies.

- Coordinate and support external audits and tax filings.

- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.

- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.

- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

- Manage cash flow and working capital.

- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.

- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.

- Identify and implement process improvements. Requirements – Must hold a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably as a Sr. Accountant.

- Expertise in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

- Proficiency in working with general ledger and creating journal entries.

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its applications in accounting.

- Experience with month-end close processes.

- Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP financial software systems.

- Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in performance.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.

- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.

- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Must possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality.
