Job Summary:

Caterpillar’s Machine & Machine Systems within Innovation and Technology Development Division is currently seeking an Electronic Systems V&V Project Team Lead in Mossville, IL Building AC. In this role you will provide leadership and technical direction for a global engineering team in the verification and validation of embedded software for Caterpillar machines and systems. In this role you and your team will be performing system integration testing to ensure high quality software for our internal and external customers. What You Will Do:

+ Leading and mentoring a global team in the development and maintenance of our lab-based software and test systems for our L6 machine software utilizing both Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) methodologies.

+ Working with machine system coordinators and electronic system design engineers to define testing priorities, determine test coverage, and troubleshoot issues identified at our proving grounds.

+ Collaborating with the software development teams to mature systems and tools to migrate applicable testing to Software-in-the-Loop platforms.

Education requirement:

+ Requires an accredited Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Technical Excellence:

+ Provides effective test strategies, processes, best practices, and management methods for our test systems to ensure high quality software for Caterpillar products and systems.

+ Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

+ Extensive knowledge of Matlab/Simulink, ControlDesk, Automation Desk, and dSPACE test equipment.

+ Extensive knowledge of CAN, J1939, TCP/IP and other data link protocols and CAN based tools such as CANalyzer, CANape, and Wireshark.

Products and Services:

+ Extensive knowledge of Caterpillar’s Electrical and Electronic Systems for integration testing.

+ Leads integration testing for L6 embedded controls software and systems.

+ Presents key deliverables and progresses to key stakeholders, promoting their linkages, strategies, and contributions to the business.

+ Leads the multi-generational product planning for our dSPACE equipment and testing processes.

Relationship Management:

+ Extensive knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with team members, process partners and customers.

+ Communicates progress, issues, successes and expectations to stakeholders, process partners, and team members.

+ Creates opportunities to educate team members and process partners of testing systems and processes.

+ Empowers others to establish collaborative and healthy relationships.

Process Improvement:

+ Extensive understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and testing methods, and ability to maintain focus on continuous improvement of processes, products, and services.

+ Coaches’ others to develop the skills to improve testing processes.

+ Streamlines the critical workflow for executing key testing processes.

+ Monitors external sources for applicable new testing methods.

The location for this position is Mossville, IL
