Job Description

We are looking for a Senior .NET Engineer to perform technical testing and issue performance plans for projects while continuously improving code health. This position will be full-time and hybrid in Chicago, IL.

What You’ll Do

+ Owns the technical testing and performance plan for their projects. Identifies manual processes that can be automated and automates them so that the development teams are not bogged down. Continuously improves code health

+ Knows and applies advanced concepts and practices while solving problems

+ Assists with or owns execution of key initiatives that align with strategic business plans

+ May run small or medium projects that impact the entire department

+ Understands the broad architecture of the entire system

+ Provides technical advice and weighs in on technical decisions that impact other teams or the company at large

+ Researches and proposes new technologies

+ Scopes and stages work into well-defined milestones to avoid a monolithic deliverable.

+ Regularly delivers software on-time and is constantly working to make accurate estimates and deliver on those estimates. Known for drama-free launches

+ Identifies tools and technologies that help make the life of developers easier. They are inspired by their experience to make the development experience easier for the engineering community.

+ Understands and communicates end-to-end architecture of entire process flow of their application’s solution architecture

+ Troubleshoots all challenges associated with their team(s)

+ Communicates across areas as a liaison and can represent their team(s) in broader architectural conversations

+ Proactively communicates any dependencies or changes that impact other teams

+ Defines techniques and best practices as they relate to the engineers on their team(s)

+ Makes recommendations to improve performance metrics on their team(s)

+ Makes others better through code reviews, thorough documentation, technical guidance, and mentoring. Provides feedback on projects outside of their core area

+ Contributes to and helps support technical training

+ Understands the tradeoffs between technical, user and product needs and leads to solutions that take all of these needs into account

+ Identifies and proposes strategies around technical and process problems affecting their team, communicates standards and gets buy-in on solutions

+ Owns delivery of larger Epics and/or initiatives. Serves as subject-matter expert for specific features

What You’ll Need

Required:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or equivalent, relevant work experience

+ 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft .NET/C#

+ 3+ year experience with SQL and relational databases (MS SQL Server preferred)

+ 1+ year experience with message-based architectures and microservices

+ Experience working in cloud environments such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure

+ 3+ years of experience demonstrating strong understanding of object-oriented design and development principles

+ Working knowledge and practice working in Agile development environment with strong engineering principles (XP, SCRUM, etc.)

+ Working understanding of CI/CD and automated testing

+ Experience organizing and prioritizing multiple projects and concurrent work streams

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands

+ Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

+ Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

+ Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
