As a Health and Safety expert, you will drive a comprehensive workplace safety program to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Key responsibilities include:
Safety Program Management:
+ Maintain current knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) policies, guidelines, and industrial processes
+ Develop and implement safety protocols, engineering controls, and product design features to reduce employee exposure hazards
+ Conduct regular facility and equipment inspections to identify and remediate potential hazards proactively
Incident Investigation & Prevention:
+ Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes and preventative measures
+ Review new construction/equipment plans and specifications to verify all safety requirements are met
+ Analyze findings from investigations, inspections, and environmental testing to recommend improvements
Safety:
+ Evaluate the effectiveness of employee safety training programs covering regulations, hazard monitoring, equipment use, etc.
+ Provide technical guidance to advise the organization on managing health/safety issues and necessary program enhancements
+ Oversee compliance training including new hire onboarding, ongoing refreshers, and regulation updates
This role is crucial for developing, implementing, and continuously improving an organization’s health and safety framework to create a secure work environment while meeting all standards.
Other requirements:
+ Must be proactive in nature with your work and drive appropriate accountability to get things done
+ Must be able to work with both hands and arms (shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hands)
+ Ability to stand and walk 80% of the time
+ Lifting requirement up to 50 lbs
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to lead, challenge and provide direction to employees, visitors and contractors
+ Good problem-solving skills are essential
+ Ability and willingness to quickly adapt to change
+ Willingness to train and develop new skills/knowledge in the HS&E spectrum
