Job Description Summary

The Manufacturing Readiness Leader will play a pivotal role in ensuring the readiness of our manufacturing processes through the facilitation and scoring of Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA). The ideal candidate will understand DoD Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and possess the ability to work seamlessly across all levels of the organization. The leader will drive deployment and execution of MRL’s within the Organization as well as with GE Aerospace’s Suppliers to ensure on time supply of production engine components, at cost and rate, which conform to GEA Manufacturing and New Product Development business plans. Activities will include working with cross functional teams from Internal Shops as well as External Suppliers to coach/mentor all deliverables of MRL’s . The MRL Leader will lead standardization of tools and processes to be followed throughout GE Aerospace. The MRL Leader is required to work closely across multiple functions such as Engineering, Commercial and Military Programs as well as Engine Services.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

+ Provide focused & effective leadership in the advancement of MRL to drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve unparalleled safety & superior quality performance.

+ Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to support timely MRL progression for new technology introductions (NTI), new product introductions (NPI), source transitions, and technology insertion activities.

+ Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Control Plans and Measurement Systems Analysis.

+ Monitor and report MRL progression status, cost reduction, quality improvement, and milestone risks to senior leadership, internal and external customers.

+ Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure validation of MRL advancements.

+ Develop and improve manufacturing readiness standard work, procedures, and business processes while integrating industry-standard best practices.

+ Provide direction and mentoring on MRL assessments and advancement.

+ Support design and manufacturing reviews and other projects critical to improving manufacturing process capability & quality performance.

+ Significant interaction with product designers, tool designers, manufacturing engineering, systems designers and other stakeholders is required.

+ Represent the organization in various forums related to MRL execution.

Minimum Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university.

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in the DoD Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL), criteria, and Aircraft Engines/manufacturing processes required.

+ If working remotely and reside outside the Evendale, Ohio area, up to 40% travel required. If local to Evendale, travel up to 25%.

+ Will offer relocation package only to Evendale, OH.

+ Self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives to completion.

+ Proven experience in facilitating Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) and scoring MRL.

+ Knowledge and experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a plus.

+ Proven technical ability to quickly understand a wide range of technical manufacturing process issues and to connect appropriate technical, lean, and quality personnel as needed.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

+ Established project management skills.
