Human Resource Associate
Job Summary

Provide Human Resources support to meet the needs of the Units within University Housing. Work with the Associate Director and Senior HR Coordinator for Housing Human Resources to coordinate campus and Housing HR systems, processes, and programs. All University Housing staff will engage and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within University Housing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as search and hiring process coordinator for all employee groups (Academic Professional, Civil Service, Extra Help, etc.), including but not limited to position development and approval, end-to-end search documentation and approvals, recruitment advertising, search team training, administering applications, interview participation, coordination, and reference checking. Ensures a comprehensive, fair and equitable search process in adherence to university policy, rules and guidelines. Initiates requests for all extra help clerical and non-clerical appointments. Manages retiree rehire approvals for staff positions in accordance with the campus Return-to-Work policies. Provides hiring managers with appropriate offer letter templates, reviews draft offer letters and proposed salary recommendations; works within guidelines established by the
appropriate collective bargaining agreements, Campus and State policies and rules.

• Functions as a consultant to all constituencies within University Housing, serving as a direct and knowledgeable resource, providing guidance and/or problem resolution for highly sensitive and unique human resource-related matters.

• Assists with Housing's new employee onboarding program and offboarding program. Participates in training activities and exercises including supervisor training.

• Monitors the completion of all probationary evaluations for new civil service employees, as well as those whose positions have been re-classified. Assists with updating and maintenance of University Housing job descriptions and annual performance appraisal process.

• Develops, implements, and maintains policies and programs that support the values and culture of the organization.

• Conducts research, interprets findings, and makes recommendations for various HR related topics. Participates in determining long and short-range goals and objectives of overall human resources. May represent Housing Human Resources on planning committees. Creates and processes various reports (monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc) and ensures that activities and services meet the business and/or operational needs of University Housing.

• Establishes centralized personnel files, search files, and other HR related files. Manages and maintains files to ensure they are in compliance with federal and state law as well as campus guidelines. Ensures labor law posters, at all locations, are posted as required. Assumes appropriate HR-related additional duties to further the mission of University Housing.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field
closely related to the position.

Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with working with confidential, time-sensitive data.

Human Resource Specialist

Preferred Qualifications

SHRM or HRCI Certification.

Experience with working with confidential, time-sensitive data.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service Human Resource Associate/Human Resource Specialist position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The salary range for the positions is $52,000 to $65,000 and salary is commensurate with experience.
