Job Description:

Basic Function and Responsibility:
The fundamental responsibility of the Dean of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment is the support of the operational aspects of the colleges' curricular activities. Those curricular activities include collaboration on the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of instructional strategies and curriculum. The Dean leads in evaluation of processes for assessment of teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes, with a focus on aligning these elements with accreditation standards and educational best practices. Working collaboratively with academic affairs staff, the Dean provides operational efficiency and accessibility to the college's Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process, including a streamlined approach to recognizing and crediting non-traditional learning.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and refinement of curricula across disciplines, ensuring alignment with industry standards, accreditation requirements, and educational best practices in partnership with the Center for Teaching Innovation.
Collaborate with external sites and other community partners and leaders in developing programs and services which respond to community and student needs
Coordinate the development and collaborative management of the college's prior learning assessment process. Work with academic departments to implement effective and equitable assessment strategies.
Collaborate on faculty development initiatives focused on instructional design, assessment techniques, and integration of technology in teaching.
Collaborates with faculty and the Center for Teaching Innovation to develop and refine curricula, promote pedagogical innovation, adopt high-impact practices and support instructional excellence.
Ensure alignment of curricular and instructional practices with accreditation standards, coordinating with the Center for Teaching Innovation to prepare for accreditation reviews and reports
Serve alongside the Center for Teaching Innovation as a primary resource for faculty, facilitating access to tools, resources, and expertise in curriculum design, instructional methods, and assessment strategies
Lead, manage, and coordinate student learning outcomes assessment processes and practices at the college leveraging data to drive improvements in curriculum, pedagogical approaches, and to support accreditation efforts
Manage the cyclical program review process in alignment with ICCB guidelines and accreditation standards.
Serve as a key advisor to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, providing data and analysis for academic strategic planning and program viability.
Serve on the college's Council of Deans and work collaboratively with academic NS student services colleagues.
Collaborate with academic leaders across departments to support curriculum and assessment initiatives
Perform other duties as directed


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Five years of leadership experience in academic affairs, curriculum development, or instructional strategy, with a demonstrated track record of collaborative projects
