Job Description Summary 
 Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs: Lewis University is in search of a Pre-Award specialist in the area of sponsored programs. This person would be within the Office of Sponsored Programs and part of a team responsible for submitting grant proposals aimed at federal, state, and foundation opportunities. The Pre-Award specialist is responsible for researching grant opportunities, assisting in writing, and eventual submission. The person will serve as a liaison with administrators, faculty, and staff for the Office of Sponsored Programs
Responsibilities 
 Responsible to model the Lewis University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University Mission and Catholic and Lasallian Higher education.

-Systematically investigate print and non-print reference sources to identify funding opportunities including grants and contracts. -Plan for present and future grant initiatives, collect and analyze data on grants and foundation trends, activities, and services.
-Formulate and maintain positive relationships with appropriate representatives of grant agencies.
-Review grant application guidelines and assess viability/feasibility of proposed projects.
-Collaborate with Lewis University faculty members and administrators to prepare proposals for contracts and for grant funding that meet priorities set by the Vice Provost for Research
-Prepare proposals to match university needs, priorities, and funding opportunities.
-Collaborate with the Director of Sponsored Programs to submit grant proposals in various agency portals.
-Participate in post-award compliance with the Office of Sponsored Programs to ensure all reports are submitted according to the grant deadlines.
-Work with Marketing and communications to publicize grant awards and activities
-Attend various seminars and workshops for professional development.
-Establish a regular communication with faculty and staff; including regular website developments and updating.
-Serve on university committees and/or task forces as assigned. -Assist with other marketing and fund seeking efforts of the Office of Sponsored Programs as required.
Minimum Qualifications 
 Master's degree required. Additional requirements include a minimum of two years of successful grant writing experience, preferably in higher education. A clear understanding of grant application procedures, proposal preparation, higher education, and strategies for working with foundations is also required. Candidate should be able to represent the University articulately, professionally, and effectively. Working knowledge and experience in fiscal and budgetary management, grant tracking and reporting procedures, Windows-based computers including Microsoft programs, database, report preparation and online research. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential with particular emphasis in preparing persuasive letters, concept papers and proposals.
