Position Summary
Ability to work with Clergy and person of varied religious/cultural backgrounds and
show sensitivity to their particular needs and concerns. Fluency in Spanish desired.

Duties and Responsibilities
Visit all patients and provide counsel for hospital staff regarding personal and Spiritual concerns. It is understood that any proselytizing is inappropriate.
Provide oversight and work cooperatively with the Discharge Planner to request the presence of clergy members in emergencies, deaths and surgeries.
Provide oversight and work cooperatively with the Discharge Planner to notify area clergy of church members who are patients.
Provide leadership to the Ethics Committee.
Participate in Rochelle Area Ministerial Association (RAMA) and work as the liaison between area clergy and the hospital.
Provide spiritual health education for patients, families, staff and community inform and empower them.
Participate in continuing education opportunities.
Coordinate clergy coverage of pastoral care needs when chaplain not on duty.
Coordinate persons to assist with translation as needed.
Maintain confidentiality as per hospital policy.
Maintains mandatory education requirements based on TJC, IDPH and OSHA standards.
Maintain required training and/or education per hospital guidelines.
Follow and maintain all lawful safety, health requirements and regulations, and follow protocols for required protective equipment for peers, patients and community.
Promptly report safety issues such hazardous conditions, job-related injury or illness, and seek guidance or treatment.
Adheres to all professional standards, policies and procedures, federal/state/local requirements and regulatory organizations.
Portrays a professional and positive attitude for peers, patients and community.
Other duties as assigned
Education:
Ordination and/or ecclesiastical endorsement. Undergraduate degree and graduate education in theology.
Two units of CPE or willingness to obtain.
Membership in American College of Chaplains or similar professional organization or willingness to pursue, desired, but not required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years Pastoral Ministry experience.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Very limited exposure to blood/body fluids.
Visual/hearing acuity with or without corrective devices. Routine inside environmental conditions (See physical requirement sheet).
Annual Requirements:
Participate in annual OSHA training.
Attend one continuing education seminar per year.
Comply with employee health requirements.
Comply with hospital mandatory in-service training.
