The senior research analyst is a valued consumer consultant who partners with our clients, operators, chefs, marketing teams, sales teams, and others to help them identify the best opportunities to elevate the hospitality experience for their customers. This individual will work closely with these teams to understand their insights needs, then develop and execute best-in-class research to address specific business objectives. You will execute a variety of methodologies, ranging from syndicated market research to custom surveys and focus groups, to better understand current and future customer needs. You will be responsible for supporting and leading in the development, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of both syndicated and primary research.

Primary responsibilities include:

+ Supporting and leading the execution of qualitative and quantitative research studies

+ Collecting and analyzing data on customer demographics, preferences, behaviors, and trends to identify optimizations and efficiencies for food & beverage operators and clients

+ Serving as subject matter expert for at least one industry (B&I, C&U, K-12, hospitals, senior living) that Compass serves

+ Identifying key themes surfacing from both primary and secondary research and turning them into actionable findings that move the business forward

+ Effectively supporting multiple projects at one time delivering consistent quality

+ Developing written reports and PowerPoint presentations to visualize data and convey findings and recommendations to clients, operators, business analysts, and executive audiences

+ Other duties as assigned

Short Description

Required Skills

+ Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in psychology, marketing, market research, business analytics, statistics, economics, or a related field

+ 3+ years of relevant work experience preferred in quantitative and/or qualitative research and/or statistical/analytical techniques

+ Understanding of how, why, and when consumer insights fit into businesses at large

+ Intermediate experience with using and interpreting syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, Datassential)

+ Intermediate experience with end-to-end survey programming with survey platform(s), such as Qualtrics, Forsta, Alchemer, or Survey Monkey

+ A talent for seeing the patterns behind data and understanding what these patterns might mean for stakeholders

+ A demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures

+ Excellent verbal communication skills

+ Advanced writing ability, including grammar, sentence structure, and storytelling

+ Detail oriented and proficient in proofing work

+ Proven intellectual and problem-solving skills that allow you to get to the heart of critical business issues

+ The ability to communicate difficult concepts in a clear, straightforward way at all levels of an organization (especially to non-technical audiences)

+ Natural curiosity, a can-do attitude, and comfortability with ambiguity

+ Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required

+ Experience in the food industry is preferred but not required

+ Experience with survey platform(s), such as Qualtrics, Forsta, or Survey Monkey, is preferred but not required
