JOB OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

Job Title: Manager for Claims Review Division: Unclaimed Property Classification: Exempt Location: Springfield

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000

Position Summary: The Manager for Claims Review plans, organizes, and directs the work of the Unclaimed Property Division’s claims review section. The individual in this position is also responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures required to ensure the effectiveness of the claims section and maintain its compliance with applicable laws. Attendance is an essential function of this position. Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Interviews and trains employees, plans, assigns, and directs work, evaluates performance, and provides positive feedback and constructive criticism to employees Coordinates daily operations of the claims section, including attendance.

+ Monitors processing and reporting of claims and communicates with management on strategies to address trends and topics.

+ Supervises staff members in the claims section, responds to claims-related questions, and is responsible for resolving claims issues.

+ Evaluate the claims processing procedure and policy and make recommendations to increase efficiency.

+ Updates forms, letters, instructions, and forward-facing website information. Reviews and approves claims on unclaimed property for the State of Illinois. Handles customer service issues that are related to claims processing.

+ Makes recommendations regarding u nclaimed p roperty policies and legislative initiatives related to claims matters.

+ Manages personnel-related matters.

+ Works with the Information Technology Division on troubleshooting and implementation of various claims-related technologies.

+ Serves as the point of contact for staff on public/constituent inquiries regarding unclaimed property .

+ Conducts as-needed meetings attended by staff in the claims review unit.

+ Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably related to the duties enumerated above.

Specific Skills:

+ Must possess basic computer skills and excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.

+ Must be able to supervise a large staff and function in a fast-paced environment.

+ Must be familiar with the Illinois Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act.

+ Must maintain satisfactory working relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the general public.

Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business or any other related field; three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience in government administration, accounting, or related field, and two (2) or more years of supervisory experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to carry out the duties of the position.
