Job Description

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Network Engineer in the transport industry. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois. The role involves managing and improving network systems and infrastructure, and the successful candidate will be proficient in various technologies including Cisco, Juniper, and Checkpoint. Working remotely, you will have a critical role in our company, ensuring our network is running smoothly and securely.

Responsibilities:

- Work on the transition from Cisco Voice to Teams, ensuring seamless communication across the company.

- Leverage your experience in network engineering with a focus on voice technologies.

- Utilize Terraform for infrastructure management, demonstrating fluency in its application.

- Handle route switch operations, ensuring optimal network performance.

- Manage our Juniper wireless network and MIST technologies.

- Administer F5 load balancers to distribute network load efficiently.

- Manage and maintain our firewall systems, particularly Checkpoint, ensuring network security.

- Use Zscaler for internet security, safeguarding our company’s internet operations.

- Utilize your expertise in Cisco technologies to improve our network systems.

- Work with different types of firewalls, ensuring the security of our network.

- Leverage your data center experience, particularly with OSPF and DTP.

- Use your scripting experience, particularly with Python, to automate tasks and improve efficiency.

- Ensure effective network operations without the need for an on-call schedule.

Skills:

- Proficiency with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

- Experience with Checkpoint and Cisco ASA

- Familiarity with Cisco routers and Cisco technologies

- Understanding of computer hardware and configuration management

- Experience with design and Eigrp

- Familiarity with Firewall technologies

- Proficiency in Terraform. Requirements

- Proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is essential

- Experience with Checkpoint is required

- Familiarity with Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers, and Cisco Technologies is necessary

- Knowledge of Computer Hardware is crucial

- Experience in Configuration Management is required

- Ability to Design network systems is vital

- Proficiency in Firewall Technologies is needed

- Experience with Terraform is required

- The candidate must be able to perform the job functions of a Network Engineer.
