As an integral member of our Company’s Global Health Innovation Fund team, the Director is an entrepreneurial individual who will be expected to perform all aspects of investing in digital health and enabling technologies startups for a corporate venture capital fund. This includes deal sourcing, vetting, diligence, financial modeling, investing, as well as investment management and governance.

The Director will report to the COO of our Company’s GHI Fund and will be expected to lead investment activities across the GHI Fund management team,

and will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, transacting, and managing venture investments.

Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

+ Lead Diligence for Investment Opportunities – Maintain awareness of startup companies in areas of interest, lead diligence of potential startups to identify potential investments, develop financial model, and conduct fundamental and technical due diligence

+ Lead and Present Investment Cases – Work with GHI Managing Directors in developing a business case, along with financial modeling, and present to the investment committee comprised of Executive Committee and EC+1 members.

+ Portfolio Management – Actively manage investments in portfolio companies. Take Board Director and Board Observer roles as appropriate. Work with portfolio company management teams, boards and investors to ensure company performance.

+ Competitive Intelligence – Monitor competitor activity and develop business intelligence related to the portfolio, as well as to our Company.

+ Develop Domain Expertise – Develop deep knowledge in digital health and enabling technologies. Attend industry conferences and events to source deals and identify exit opportunities.

+ Maintain Knowledge of our Company Use Cases – Work closely with GHI Portfolio Development team to understand key uses cases across our Company’s business to ensure alignment of new opportunities to strategy as appropriate. Develop rapport and manage processes with senior leaders and their delegates to develop and prioritize use cases.

Position Qualifications:

Location/Commute:

+ Due to the scope of the role, the position offers flexibility to work remotely, however, applicant must have the ability to come into our site in Rahway, NJ for monthly meetings and on need basis.

+ This position cannot be 100% remote.

Education Minimum Requirement:

+ Bachelor’s degree in related field.

+ Advanced degree preferred with strong preference for PhD in relevant scientific field.

Required Experience and Skills :

+ Minimum 5 years domain expertise in healthcare investing, business development, or advisory services with a strong understanding of the healthcare venture capital ecosystem.

+ Minimum 8 years of work, or equivalent, experience in healthcare related fields

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation skills and executive presence.

+ Strong client service approach with consultative, problem-solving skill set operating in a matrixed environment, along with a deep understanding pharmaceutical operation.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Experience and Skills:

+ Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D processes including, but not limited to: target identification, lead generation, composition of matter, clinical development, biomarker research, regulatory submission, and safety monitoring.

+ Experience leading diligence processes for healthcare investments or business development for enabling technologies with demonstrated ability to orchestrate all resources including internal and external parties.

+ Strong knowledge of trends impacting the pharmaceutical industry with respect to enabling technologies, regulation, and reimbursement.

+ Experience with product/solution development in Healthcare IT / digital health / enabling technologies.

+ Experience with strategic planning and strong financial acumen

+ Strong project and relationship management skills; ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail

+ Experience as a board observer or in an operating role in healthcare startups

+ Passion for knowledge, drive for excellence, demonstrated leadership capabilities
