Job Description

As a Saw Operator, you will set up and operate metal-sawing machines to cut flat pieces of steel to precise dimensions as specified in orders. Your responsibilities will include reading shop routings, blueprints, and accurately measuring using a standard tape measure to 1/32nd of an inch. You will handle a variety of tasks from selecting the appropriate product and blueprint on a computer, determining if any holes need to be cut into the steel, to making round and square pieces of steel to customer specifications. You will also be involved in installing or adjusting saw blades, setting blade tension and cutting speed, and ensuring quality control by inspecting and measuring parts. Your role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and quality of our production line.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Rockford, Illinois.

Work Environment

The work environment is a well-lit, character-building setting with several windows, originally built in 1906. The temperature varies with the seasons, supplemented by fans in summer and access to cold drinks and frozen treats. Regular hours are 5:00am – 1:30pm, Monday – Friday, with flexibility required for 10-hour days and up to 8 hours on Saturdays as needed. The manufacturing shop floor exposes workers to noise, fumes, dust, and mists, requiring you to be on your feet and move equipment and machine parts.
