Job Title: Field Service Technician (Austin)Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for field-based maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic instrumentation or similar equipment down to the component level. This includes disassembling, replacing or repairing defective parts, rewiring electronics, testing, adjusting and calibrating. You will also provide remote technical support via telephone and ticketing system, guiding to simple fixes and recommending spare parts. You must be able to travel up to 80% of the time, both locally and through air travel. This is not a dispatch type role – you will make your own schedule for preventative maintenance, spend 66% of the time on maintenance repairs, and 34% of the time on preventative maintenance.

Hard Skills

+ Associate’s degree in Electronics or Engineering (minimum of HS diploma)

+ 2-5 years of experience in field-based maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic instrumentation

+ Proficiency in reading technical manuals & schematic diagrams

+ Ability to use a variety of hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office

+ Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Lake Bluff, Illinois.

Work Environment

Our work environment involves leading manufacturing of material analysis equipment such as hardness testers, sample prep machines including polishers and grinders. Our equipment is found in quality inspection labs, metallurgical labs, and more. This position is a direct hire, with a pay range of $32.00 – $35.00 per hour.
