The Ford Pro Digital & UX team seeks a high-impact and versatile Data Visualization Designer to join our Design System team. If you are passionate about giving life to raw data through aesthetically pleasing and effective visualization and excited to work on significant, meaningful, and complex problems with real-world impact, help us make Ford Pro the best experience for our customers! As a Data Visualization Designer, your role is to craft cutting-edge data visualization solutions that enhance a wide array of data-driven analytical applications. Your role demands a seasoned designer proficient in user experience (UX) and creative design. Working in close collaboration with product managers, engineers, researchers, content strategists, and fellow designers, you will develop and refine reusable frameworks. These frameworks are designed to foster innovation and efficiency, culminating in an exceptional user experience. Within this role, you have the unique opportunity to influence Ford Pro’s entire digital landscape significantly. Your contributions will elevate the user experience and boost productivity for a commercial audience at the forefront of automotive technology and support.

What you’ll do…

+ Design and develop a wide range of custom-branded data visualization assets, including static infographics, interactive charts, dashboards, and components to communicate complex data insights effectively.

+ Collaborate with data analysts and stakeholders to understand their data requirements and assist in translating them into effective reporting data products, including visualizations.

+ Use visualization tools (D3, Power BI, Apex, etc.) to design, help develop, and implement visually appealing and engaging interactive reports and dashboards that provide valuable insights.

+ Maintain detailed documentation of multiple simultaneous projects.

+ Serve as an operational data visualization expert for the team.

+ Make recommendations for and create scalable data visualization solutions.

+ Effectively incorporate and adapt brand guidelines, ensuring a cohesive and consistent brand experience.

+ Ensure all data visualization content is ADA-compliant.

+ Maintain a positive attitude in the face of rapidly shifting priorities and occasional project ambiguity. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in ambiguous situations is crucial.

+ Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including UX design, development, and product management.

You’ll have…

+ Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience.

+ Demonstrated experience in data visualization and management using D3, Power BI, Apex, or related tools.

+ Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data into easy-to-understand solutions.

+ Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present data in a clear and compelling way.

Even better, you may have…

+ Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Analytics, User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Service Design, Graphic Design, or a design related-degree (i.e. Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, etc.).

+ Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion in a remote and dynamic working environment.

+ Strong knowledge of Interaction Design, Service Design, Design Research, Information Architecture, and /or UX.

+ Demonstrable expertise in UX design in all phases across a variety of projects.

+ Ability to lead and be independent, but also collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple audiences.

+ Experience delivering projects from definition through execution and refinement.

+ Proven track record of building consensus, influence, and work effectively within a cross-functional team of designers, product managers, and engineers. Experience with building relationships, credibility, and proactive communication with team members and leaders.

+ Ability to communicate the value of product features and identify trade-offs to deliver useful digital products.

+ Proven experience in combining quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions.

+ Understanding of translation of business metrics to inform goals of user-centric design.

+ Flexibility to work on initiatives with unclear and/or changing requirements. Strong project management, problem-solving, verbal/written communication, and context switching skills.

+ High-level knowledge of design tools such as Figma, Zeroheight, and/or other design and prototyping software.

+ Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and basic markup is preferred, with an emphasis on prototyping skills.

+ Passion for the automotive, transportation, and fleet management industry.
