JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

ASSISTANT DISTRICT MANAGERHUMAN SERVICES

Department of Family and Support Services

Number of Positions: 1

(additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $ 67,656.00

Under direction, assists in managing the programs and services at a Department of Family and Support Services community service center, and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUITES

+ Assists in managing supervisors responsible for the administration of the center’s programs and services (e.g., direct and referral services, crisis intervention, case management)

+ Assigns work and reviews staff performance, making personnel changes as required

+ Assists the District Manager in implementing department policies and procedures for the administration of programs and services

+ Participates in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of the center’s programs and services and implements modifications to improve efficiencies

+ Assesses staff training needs and develops and implements training programs to improve skills

+ Assists in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the administration of special and seasonal programs

+ Assists staff in resolving difficult client cases

+ Responds to inquiries and complaints regarding programs and services

+ Networks with community groups, social service agencies, and other City departments to identity the needs of community residents, develop programs to address those needs, and coordinate services to ensure maximum utilization of resources

+ Coordinates facility management functions

+ Supervises and report the preparation of programmatic and statistical reports

+ Attends community meetings and events as assigned to increase public awareness of the center’s programs and services, as required

+ Lead weekly case staffing and client assessment reports prepared by staff

+ Identify staff training needs and either conduct or coordinate training workshops and opportunities to improve skills with approval of the DM.

+ Monitor case management files prepared by staff.

+ Monitor and assess performance of self.

+ Stay abreast of current social service theories, practices, and services.

+ Develops and maintains a resource and referral network of service providers.

+ Analyzes work practices and procedures and work with center and department leadership to implements changes as needed to increase staff effectiveness and improve the quality of services provided to clients.

+ Under supervision of the District Manager, prepare monthly program reports and community activities.

+ Other duties as assigned .

Location: Department of Family and Support Services

Address: 1140 W. 79th St.

Shift: Monday – Friday

Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a directly related field, plus three years of community or social service experience, of which one year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Intermediate experience with Microsoft office.

Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications

+ A valid State of Illinois driver’s license is required

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires an applicant to successfully complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral parts of the interview will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

+ Previous work experience in a community or Social Service environment.

+ Previous work experience in supporting and providing direct social service to clients.

+ Previous work experience working with agencies and providing referral services.

+ Previous work experience Supervising staff in a social service or community service environment and bargaining unit employees.

+ Masters degree in Social Services, Psychology, Human Services
