Shift: Shift 1

Work Schedule: 10 Hr (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

Summary:

Incumbent produces high quality breast images for interpretation in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Demonstrates confidence and compassion when interacting with patients and appropriately answers patients’ questions. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:

- Formal training in an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

- Valid Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety license.

- Registry or Registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

- Proficient in modality physics and operation of equipment.

- Knowledge of human anatomy, pathology and physiology.

- Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

- Maintain Illinois State License,

- Proficient in screening mammography with technical repeat of 1% or lower

- Proficient in screening mammography and diagnostic mammography

- Proficient in image guided breast procedures included but not limited to interventional breast biopsy procedures

Preferred Job Qualifications:

- Lead Technologist or Lead Procedure Technologist experience.

Physical Demands:

- Requires full body range of motion including handling and lifting patients when necessary.

- Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Responsibilities:

1. Provides quality patient care as defined by departmental and age specific standards of care.

2. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

3. Follows departmental protocols and procedures in the performance of exams and produces images that meet quality standards.

4. Produces work in an efficient manner that meets departmental productivity standards.

5. Maintains the physical work environment in a manner that meets departmental and regulatory requirements.

6. Has a working knowledge of the Radiology Information Systems, EPIC and PACS (Candelis).

7. Reports supply shortages or equipment failures to operations manager and/or team leader.

8. Follows work and patient schedules.

9. Assists Radiologist in the performance of interventional breast procedures.

10. Maintains logs and documentation as per departmental protocol.

11. Provides detailed patient history and/or other pertinent information necessary for proper interpretation of image.

12. Maintains licensure/registry status as determined by state or regulatory bodies.

13. Participates in the training and development of students assigned to the area through clinical affiliations.

14. Maintains a screening technical repeat average of 1% or lower.

15. Assists the technical aides and/or radiologists by informing patients and referring physicians of patient appointment delays.

16. Assists in room preparedness, i.e. cleaning rooms and supply placement, to include ultrasound rooms.

17. Maintains department standards for time and attendance.
