Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary 
 The Graduate Assistant will report to and be under the direct supervision of the Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs and Recruitment. This position will be responsible for helping highlight Lewis University to Veterans, provide support services, work on retention initiatives, and assist in training workshops for Veterans, Faculty, and Staff at the University.
Responsibilities 
 Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Assist in coordination of veteran career and education fairs
-Assist in the development of relationships with local Armed Forces Reserve Centers and Veteran Service Organizations
-Assist in the professional development and supervision of interns working in the office
-Reviewing and assist in the production of marketing and promotional materials
-Assist in leveraging all VA type programs available at the national and state level
-Build veteran programming centered on retention and graduation initiatives; to include the exploration of new models
-Telephone or face to face follow-up for prospective student veterans
-Maintain veteran recruitment data and invitations
-Provide survey and data analysis or veteran prospects; must be familiar with Excel
-Assist with the military orientation program and military student success seminar
-Serve as an assistant during board and committee meetings; short one day travel may be required
-Other job-related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and Director of Veterans Affairs and Recruitment
Minimum Qualifications 
 Bachelor's degree required. Must be enrolled in and maintain satisfactory progress in one of the University's graduate programs. Prior office experience, excellent oral and written communication skills needed. Good working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications 
 Prior military experience preferred. Prior experience in Higher education also preferred but not required.

Work hours  
 Part-time; minimum of 20 hours per week year-round.
