Job Description

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial management and financial reporting systems. The successful candidate is a reliable professional with broad knowledge of accounting, financial and business principles. This position requires an honest, smart strategic thinker and an effective leader who can use good judgment and assist the company in making the most profitable decisions.
This position will offer a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of three days onsite required per week. Additionally, a clear employment verification, background check, credit check and education verification will be required for this role.
Responsibilities
Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
Ensuring company policies and procedures for cash and credit management, administration and internal controls are adhered to
Overseeing and supporting the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity, striving to improve processes
Ensuring compliance with state, federal and international (as applicable) laws and regulations
Maintaining compliance with federal and state payroll regulations
Ensuring accurate setup of accounting operations within ERP systems
Coordinating the timely preparation of financial statements, tax returns and governmental agency reports, assisting where necessary
Presenting financial statements and analysis to the Executive Committee as requested
Working with the database team to develop financial management reports
Conducting analysis for use in creating forecasts and providing guidance in the financial decisions of the company
Monitoring cash flow and financial transactions
Coordinating external audit and tax compliance and assisting where necessary
Maintaining corporate banking relationships on behalf of the company
Managing the corporate insurance program
Qualifications
Eight to 10 years of experience in accounting/financial management
Strong knowledge of finance and tax law, regulatory standards (GAAP) and best practices
Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines
Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software
Strong organizational, leadership, problem-solving and finance-project management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills enabling the conveyance of financial information in sound, understandable business language
International exposure/experience
BSc/BA in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA/CMA preferred
Location: Champaign, Illinois (hybrid schedule available)
