POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Corps Accountant I - Bilingual (Spanish)
LOCATION/DEPT:  DHQ Corps Accounting Center
REPORTS TO (TITLE):  Corps Accounting Manager
FLSA CATEGORY:  Non-Exempt
STATUS TYPE:  RFT
OUTCOMES
Responsible for providing financial analysis and reporting that will assist Corps officers with their decision making process in relation to the daily management of Corps programs and operations, resulting in the Corps ability to accomplish their goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable for Assigned Corps
Auditing check requests for accuracy of account distributions, adherence to Salvation Army policies and appropriate approvals.
Enter accounts payable transactions into computerized accounting system.
Initiate the transfer of accounts payable data to assigned Corps for the printing of disbursement checks at the local Corps location.
Receipting
Audit cash receipt deposit reports received from assigned Corps for reasonableness and accuracy of account distributions.
Reconcile cash receipt deposit reports to actual bank activity.
Enter receipt transactions into computerized accounting system.
Record donor receipts in "Contribution Module" for year-end tax reporting requirements.
Financial Services
Review and verify expense and revenue account distributions for accuracy.
Analyze and reconcile various balance sheet and income statement accounts, identifying and resolving reconciling items on a timely basis.
Complete monthly bank reconciliation, identifying and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
Prepare and enter journal entries including, but not limited to, payroll, depreciation, and reserve ledgers.
Assist with budget preparations.
Other Duties
Provide information for both internal and external audits as requested.
File receipting, accounts payable, journal entries, reports and supporting documentation.
Answer inquiries by email or phone on a timely basis.
Assist with other Corp Accounting Center duties as assigned or requested.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports to the Corps Accounting Manager.
In contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.
PERFORMANCE MEASURMENTS
This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals will be reviewed and an evaluation of how effectively service is provided.
A 30, 60, and 90-day performance review will be conducted.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years' experience in accounting or a related field (college degree in accounting preferred).
Must be able to speak Spanish.
Experience with computerized accounting systems.

POSITION LIMITATIONS
This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
This individual will keep the Corps Accounting Manager informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is required to do some light physical work.
In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and a PC.
