Job Description

The Forestry Product Manager, Technical Accreditation will maintain technical qualifications for standards, grow market share in collaboration with sales managers, and review and approve PWS and related technical support. They will also coach and support Auditors during annual witness on-site audits for applicable standards. This position will conduct training for internal resources, auditors, sales and operations staff. Assists customer care with client issues. Support sales team by conducting webinars and participating in industry trade shows and related activities.
  • Act as Forestry Lead Auditor and carry out SGS accredited (FSC, SFI, PEFC) & non-accredited Forestry schemes/ standards audits
  • Makes decisions concerning the technical accreditation process and informs SGS as required to resolve issues outside the audit process
  • Perform audits, technical reviews, and certificate decisions per accreditation requirements, SGS certification procedures, and the requirements of the assigned standard as needed
  • Collects and analyzing information to provide a recommendation for certification to the above mentioned standards
  • Support the SGS Business Assurance teams with their business development activities including following the trends in the Forestry market, providing technical content (white papers), speaking at important events (webinars, conferences), representing SGS at key Forestry associations meetings, and supporting other marketing activities planned in this sector.
  • Perform technical reviews, and certificate decisions per accreditation requirements, SGS Certification procedures, and the requirements of the assigned standard as needed
  • Manage and report on Global assigned monthly KPI's maintaining performance objectives.
  • Decide, based on evidence gained during audits, whether registration should be recommended or allowed to continue.
  • Coordinate Accreditation Office audits of sector specific schemes
  • Assist in the training of lead auditors during planned audits or during other training functions.
  • Participate actively in witness audits by SGS or accreditation bodies.
  • Maintain all audit credentials.
  • Review and action any applicable IAQG Resolutions and add to the Resolutions log
  • Monitor all Forestry auditors for audit package turnaround time
  • All Forestry audit packages must be technically reviewed - Review or assign audit packs for tech review and ensure completion on time.
  • Responsible for the actions of all NCRs issued by accreditation bodies via office audit or witness audits
  • Responsible for Internal audit of the Forestry Program and applicable NCRs
  • Provide guidance and support for all Forestry auditors in the field - Many need same-day answers
  • Provide updates to Forestry auditors on program changes interpretations and advise on any new changes
  • Review all client proposals (PWS) documents post SGS audit to prepare for next visit-scope changes, employee counts - site structure changes etc.
  • Recruit - and onboard Forestry auditors, as needed.
  • Meet audit utilization target of 30%.
  • Interface with current clients as needed answering questions - without consulting.
  • Interface and support Operations/ KAS as needed.
  • Work closely with the SGS Global Forestry Team and VP of Industrial and Transportation to support the business development activities. This includes following the trends in the Forestry market, providing technical content (white papers), speaking at important events (webinars, conferences), representing SGS at key Forestry Association meetings, and supporting other marketing activities planned in this sector.
  • Maintain technical qualifications of the standard for self and the team. Conduct level one audits as needed to support operational/ accreditation requirements. Provide guidance, direction, and support to the Forestry auditors/ team members in attaining their objectives. Maintain and improve auditor resource pool/product-specific auditor credentials.
  • Conduct training for internal resources (auditors, sales & operations) on Forestry Product including but not limited to PWS preparation, ANAB witness/ office audits, and related processes

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree Engineering, Science, etc. or in a related discipline Required
  • 5+ years of experience in Technical Accreditation or Certification industries Required
Certifications and Training
  • Successful completion (certificate) of an accredited "ISO management system Lead auditor course" or an ISO 19011 course on auditing techniques.
  • Registered ISO 17065 Certificate (preferably IRCA)
  • FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Registered Lead Auditor
  • SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) Registered Lead Auditor
  • PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) Registered Lead Auditor
Travel
  • Ability to travel, including a valid passport and driver license.
Key Performance Objectives
  • Knowledge of forest product chain of custody
  • Ability to interpret the standards from FSC, SFI and PEFC
  • Achieve 25% audit utilization.
  • Ability to co-ordinate and control the assessment.
  • Accurate and timely submission of reports, expenses and nonconformity clearance
  • Ability to communicate with clients, staff, and auditors.
Benefits
  • Salary - $72,000-$100,000 based on experience
