Job Description
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performing comprehensive neurological assessments and evaluations for patients with epilepsy and seizure disorders.
Collaborating with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with epilepsy.
Prescribing and monitoring antiepileptic medications and other therapies, such as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), or ketogenic diet.
Educating patients and families about epilepsy, seizure types, triggers, prevention, safety, and self-management.
Providing follow-up care and support to patients with epilepsy, including managing seizures, breakthrough seizures, and seizure emergencies.
Participating in quality improvement initiatives and research projects related to epilepsy care.
Position is Monday-Friday working both with inpatient and outpatient settings

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's or doctoral degree in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited program.
A current license to practice as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the state of Illinois.
A certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP), or a certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) as a physician assistant (PA).

Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of two years of clinical experience in neurology, preferably in epilepsy.
A strong knowledge of evidence-based guidelines and best practices in epilepsy care.
