Description:

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Alternate Format Specialist, provide specialized support and direct service around the conversion of documents to alternate formats. Provide general office management support as needed, including clerical and web content work.

Duties & Responsibilities

Support the clerical functions of the office, including but not limited to answering phones, scheduling student appointments and updating content on the website._x000d_
Support Alternate Format Specialists in the management of request, fulfillment, and distribution processes for conversion of course documents to alternate formats_x000d_
Support collaboration with UIC faculty and publishing agencies to obtain necessary course materials and convert textbooks and materials into accessible formats, including but not limited to: Braille, audio, screen reader accessible pdf, large format, Word, and KESI_x000d_
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications


High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the categories below:
College coursework in any curriculum as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
Work experience performing office/clerical activities, including the use of computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year of experience working with learners with disabilities.
Understanding of barriers associated with text based materials for those with certain diagnosed disabilities.
Fluency with cloud-based information management systems such as Google Sheets and Box.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to multi-task and perform in a high paced environment.
Ability to professionally handle feedback and complaints.
