Position Summary
Under general direction and as part of a collaborative team, implements, configures, supports, and manages healthcare software applications, which includes Electronic Health Record systems, specifically Epic clinical applications and integrating systems. Provides production application support on a rotating 24/7 basis.

Duties & Responsibilities

As part of the Ambulatory clinical systems team, work in collaboration with Epic representatives and the UI Health clinical and business community to ensure the EHR systems meet the organization's clinical and business needs.
Gather information from clinicians and staff regarding clinical and operational workflows and business goals and risks to define new healthcare application requirements.
Recommend innovative application solutions to clinical workflow, patient safety, productivity, and financial problems. Assist application teams in development of design and required documentation. Analyze business processes and reengineers those processes to improve business and/or clinical needs.
Plan, perform, and test regular software upgrades/updates.
Review and test each new release, ensuring adherence to the testing policies and procedures for application team members. Develop and follow plans to collect information regarding potential system enhancement needs and coordinates preparation of specifications as needed.
Support other affected applications as appropriate. This includes communication and coordination with other vendors and/or Information Services staff related to 3rd party applications which may interact or interface with Epic.
Participate in the design of new tools, components, functionalities within healthcare applications. Implement software modifications and document changes to designs, tools, components, functionalities and processes.
Test software modifications or enhancements in a test environment. Ensure integration of healthcare application data and information across platforms and systems.
Meet with end users to determine and define report requirements and ensure delivered reports/data meet quality standards.
Identify improvements and suggest changes to new policies, procedures, or work practices.
Engage with vendors and maintain vendor relationships. Participate in analysis of vendor solutions and enforce vendor service level agreements (SLA). Contact vendor to resolve issues.
Assist in development of specifications and standards to ensure adherence to regulatory, medical, campus and university standards.
Provide application support on a rotating 24/7 basis.
Successfully complete manager identified, required system training and certifications needed to support assigned applications within communicated timeframes.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor Degree - Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, related information management field or a clinical area of study.
Minimum of one (1) year professional level IT experience within Software Solutions which includes demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, maintaining, and managing healthcare information systems (e.g., Epic, PACS, billing, supply chain, utilization review, operating rooms,...
