Job Description

CWLP has an opportunity for individuals seeking a challenge in a first-in-class municipal utility and who wants to gain broad experience in the utility infrastructure industry. The Utility Geographical Information System Technician is responsible for collecting, preparing and entering all data required for a Geographical Information System. Depending on experience, this may include high-level application design and implementation. The successful candidate will collect and prepare GIS data for the utility and perform quality control on that data. The position includes field survey and data collection work with state-of-the-art GPS equipment in a variety of environments. The applicant will also have the opportunity to work with Computer Aided Design systems to develop system and technical drawing/symbology standards. The candidate will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in maintaining and supporting GIS platforms and users, as well as provide technical assistance and guidance to end users. The candidate will also contribute to a wide range of studies, reports, and other documents that help drive the focus of the utility. Experienced candidates may have the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert for GIS systems, data, and processes on a utility-wide basis. Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
