Description:

Position Summary
The Research Specialist- Shimamura Lab contributes to the design and delivery of research projects, and collaborates with researchers to develop, execute and interpret research projects. This position will reform complex laboratory and data collection techniques.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conducts experiments according to established research protocols for multiple projects simultaneously.
Collects, reviews, and analyzes individually; and team-generated data.
Operates, cleans, and maintains the organization of research equipment and research lab spaces.
Assist the laboratory manager with placing orders and tracking inventory levels.
Documents results for presentations including external conferences and internal lab meetings.
Provides training and operational guidance on day-to-day activities for laboratory student workers.
Performs literature reviews and writes reports/co-authors scientific papers for presentations and publications.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in science or related field required. Master's degree in science preferred.
A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
Proficient in specific lab research techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

Requires B.A./B.S. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or related area.
Minimum of 2 years of wet lab/bench experience in academic research setting.
Preferred knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques such as western blotting and PCR
Ability to work hands-on with mice and mammalian model systems.
Preferred experience with orthotopic/GEMM animal models
