The Commercial Lending Department Manager will oversee the operations of the Lending Department. This role is responsible for managing, mentoring, and developing the team, ensuring that all commercial lending activities are performed in accordance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Commercial Lending Department Manager is tasked with developing and managing a loan portfolio with total commercial assets of $25MM to $50MM, fostering strong relationships with clients, and contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the bank.
Department Management:
Supervise and lead a team of 5-7 commercial lending professionals.
Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations for team members.
Ensure efficient and effective operations within the department.
Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
Monitor and manage the department's budget.
Loan Portfolio Management:
Build and maintain a commercial loan portfolio ranging from $25MM to $50MM.
Identify and develop new business opportunities.
Assess and analyze creditworthiness of potential borrowers.
Prepare, review, and approve loan applications and documentation.
Monitor existing loan accounts for compliance and performance.
Client Relationship Management:
Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients and prospects.
Provide exceptional customer service and support.
Conduct client visits and business development activities.
Collaborate with other departments to meet client needs.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Ensure all lending activities comply with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with lending activities.
Conduct regular reviews and audits of loan portfolios.
Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
Participate in planning sessions with the Market President.
Develop and implement tactics in alignment with market strategy to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the bank.
Prepare and present reports on department performance to senior management.
Key Competency Requirements

 

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial lending, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
Proven track record of building and managing a commercial loan portfolio.
Strong knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze financial statements and assess creditworthiness.
Proficient in using banking software and Microsoft Office Suite.
