We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Marketing and Sales Specialist on our Publishing team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As a Marketing and Sales Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing institutional site license, permissions and 3rd party licensing revenue through the use of pre and post-sales support, operational platform management and marketing materials. Collaborate with the Director of the assigned sales department for day-to-day support alignment for the team. This role will build relationships, both internal and external, to influence the perception of the value of the JAMA Network site license and other content offerings across complex JAMA Network Portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Pre-Sale Initiatives

+ Responsible for the facilitation of client-facing contracts, reports and presentations, especially around marketing insights needed for complex contracts.

+ Responsible for with weekly and monthly distribution of reporting designed to target key opportunities at the account and historical level.

+ Support both clients and sales reps with support and/or facilitate communication for customers with the appropriate operations support staff.

+ Responsible for creation of reports required in sales platforms, through Silverchair and Smartsheet. Including keeping existing accounts updated within systems.

+ Responsible for new client processes including supporting account setup, access and customer facing communications.

Post-Sale Support

+ Build client facing materials supplied in a uniform template by the Director.

+ Liaise with business services, finance and sales manager to ensure prompt payment and verification of account set up.

+ Responsible for providing one-off post sales services, such as reporting, contract support and consortia orders or renewals.

+ Update sales databases with updated customer information and sales information.

+ Serve as a liaison between Sales and Operations for any customer service or technical issues.

+ Serve as additional team support for client facing needs during out of office/conference attendance for the staff.

Marketing, Social and External Sales

+ Identify and build out of lead lists per assigned segment and targeted accounts in order to advocate the value of the JAMA Network offerings.

+ Collaborate with Director and assigned team Manager when outboard marketing and new business promotions are facilitated for sellers.

+ Facilitate identifying accounts for upsell and usage improvement campaigns.

+ Generate sales content as needed to support marketing campaigns.

+ Work in tandem with the Director and internal marketing departments to develop and maintain predetermined cadences for social media, list serv and other marketing activity on behalf of the WW Sales team.

+ This includes serving up external information to the Director of potential sharable opportunities. Identify emerging trends that can be programmed into campaign plans.

+ Understand national and international factors affecting the scholarly publishing market.

+ Provide sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, services, analyzing business developments and monitoring marketing trends in the assigned team category.

Departmental Collaboration

+ Contribute to sales focused market creation, market research studies and distribution of customized needs to secure business.

+ Responsible to encourage a collaborative group support mentality with the assigned sales representatives and the customers; this includes ensuring that the seller and customer feel supported in a unified fashion.

+ Attend regularly scheduled sales meetings with the assigned team to understand the sales initiatives and needs the sales group requires to achieve sales goals.

+ Facilitate and distribute materials for assigned seller.

May include other responsibilities as assigned REQUIREMENTS:

+ Bachelor’s degree preferred, specifically in a business-related marketing, advertising or sales discipline.

+ 5+ years of sales or marketing coordination, administrative or business development experience, advertising or recruitment focus preferred.

+ Able to navigate complex relationships across sales team needs in both internal and external demands.

+ Able to create a cohesive working partnership between self and each rep in a professional manner with team-based encouraging attitude.

+ Able to build relationships at all levels within internal departments and external relationships within the different levels of a health system or recruitment organization.

+ Required to excel at supporting complex team structures, efficient time management and organizational skills as a top priority.

+ Proven ability to excel in organization, setting meetings, writing skills & identify areas for process improvements.

+ Proven ability to work with digital systems and social networks in addition to being highly competent in Adobe and other system-based CRM/Reporting systems.

+ Proven integrity when representing the organization to potential clients, accurately representing team or client needs to sales leadership and clearly articulating the features of the organization with clients.

+ Travel may be requested but not required in support of sales conferences and interaction with buyers.
